festive event

Join us for the Rugby Town Centre Christmas lights switch on with music, funfair, stalls, food, family entertainment and a firework finale.

The main event begins at 12 noon until 5:30pm with the funfair open until 8:00pm.

This year’s Christmas light switch-on will be taking place on Sunday 21 November in Rugby town centre between 12 noon and 5.30pm. Over 8000 people are expected to enjoy the festive celebrations throughout the course of the day in this annual event organised by Rugby First in partnership with Rugby Borough Council. The lights will be switched on by representatives of the emergency services - as a simple way of thanking and recognising their dedication and commitment over the past 18 months, in what has been a very difficult and challenging time for everyone. As well as enjoying the lights and a full programme of live music,  visitors will be able to enjoy a funfair, children’s entertainment, street food and stalls, along with a spectacular firework display that will bring the day to a close.

Activities will be taking place on North Street, Church Street, Market Place, Regent Street, Henry Street, Albert Street and Bank Street so make sure you explore and enjoy all areas of the town centre! Why not take to the sky on the Ferris Wheel and get a bird’s eye view of the town centre or take a spin on the dodgems and twister. Don’t forget there will also be a funfair in North Street carpark on Saturday 20 November from 12 to 8pm as well as on the Sunday.

As well as the funfair have your face painted, try your hand at Circus skills or simply sing along and enjoy some of the festive carols and music on the main stage on North Street!

While you are in town take the opportunity to pick up your Christmas gifts. There’s a fantastic choice of national and independent stores offering a wide variety of interesting and unique gifts for friends and family.

After all this you are bound to be feeling hungry so take some time out to enjoy some street food or great food and drink from the many cafes, pubs, and restaurants in the town centre.

Why not help your child make a lantern and bring it along, there will be spot prizes for ones that catch our eye.

At the end of the day look to the skies and enjoy the spectacular firework display.
