St George's Day

Celebrate St George's Day with Rugby Town Centre

One of Rugby most popular events, St George’s Day, returns to the town centre on Saturday 21 April. Organised by Rugby First the event takes place between 12 noon and 3pm on High Street and Sheep Street and promises an afternoon of fun family entertainment – including St George on a horse!

This year not only will St George be riding through the streets of Rugby on his magnificent steed but he will also be bringing his princess so give them both a cheer! You’ll also be able to get up close to some amazing birds of prey.

Have your face painted with the red and white of St George and then take a picture and share with your friends and family via social media – better still invite them along.

We’ll also have ‘Punch and Judy’, the incredibly popular ‘Wolly the entertainer’, a bouncy castle, petting corner, woodcraft, bike display and of course no St George’s Day would be complete without some magic.

Aftab Gaffar, Managing Director of Rugby First said: “Events such as this are becoming increasingly important to the town centre. They create a lot of interest helping to raise the profile of the town, increase footfall, generate spend and attract new visitors. Many of these visitors will also take the opportunity to do some shopping and eat out which again all helps boost the town centre economy.”

Aftab continued: “The town centre has a lot to offer visitors with a mix of independent businesses, national brand outlets and some great cafes, pubs and restaurants – it is also home to the ‘World Rugby Hall of Fame’. So why not combine the St George’s Day celebrations with a bit of food, shopping and a visit to the Hall of Fame.”
