Dog-Friendly Rugby

There's no need to leave your dog at home when you take a trip into Rugby. With its beautiful parks and wide open pedestrian streets, it's a great little adventure for canine companions. It's a dog-friendly town too. Many shops and businesses gladly welcome doggie visitors. Local dog-about-town, Bertie takes us on a tour of just a few of these dog-friendly spots.

Starting off his day outside the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum and World Rugby Hall of Fame is always a treat for Bertie. He's a fan of our rugby ball installations, as are many other pooches around town.

There are so many dog-friendly cafes in Rugby. One of Bertie's favourite for people watching, a great coffee and fantastic doggie treats is Treacles Kitchen on Sheep Street. Many cafes provide similar dog treats and refreshments and dogs are spoilt for choice.

A bit of shopping is in order and a trip to Izzy Loops offers some amazing smells among the home and giftware. Izzy Loops has its own resident dog, Bella Loops and many a pooch love a catch up during shopping time.

Over two floors, Bacco Lounge is a treat for dogs and their owners. The varied menu has something for everyone including a wide range of kids, vegan and gluten free options. Dogs can enjoy time relaxing too, while their owners while away an afternoon over lunch.

Post lunch, a walk in the park is always a great option and Caldecott Park draws in many a shopper, family, walker and lunchtime-breaker with its beautiful gardens and tranquillity. The Toolshed Cafe on site is also a treat to sit outside on a warm day. What's more the park is a great spot for dog exercise, play and socialising. If you are looking for a bit more of a walk, the canalside is another great option for dogs.

After strenuous activity in the park, it's off for some light refreshment in famed The Merchants Inn.  The Merchants is just one of the many pubs in Rugby that welcome dogs. Doggie treats and refreshments are always available for visiting canine friends.

A final stop off to gaze upon Bertie's hero William Webb Ellis before home time. After all, dogs love rugby too!

If you are a visitor to the town with your dog, let us know where you are and share your images with @TheRugbyTown on Twitter or Instagram using #DogFriendlyRugby. We love seeing new pictures.
