Rugby is home to a diverse network of parks, gardens and nature areas, each with its own character and charm. Across the borough, there are over 70 parks and open spaces to explore, offering everything from play areas and sports facilities to quiet places for reflection.

Located in the heart of the town, Caldecott Park is Rugby’s flagship green space. This award-winning park is renowned for its vibrant floral displays and is regularly featured in Britain in Bloom.
Visitors can enjoy formal lawns, a play area, sports facilities and Hatty Bakewell’s Café. The park is a real community hub often hosting engaging family-friendly events.

The gardens were opened to mark the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. The expansive gardens are a site of rich history sitting on the site of the former Town Baths, and an ancient British fort destroyed in the reign of King Stephen (1135-1154). A statue of famous Rugby-born poet Rupert Brooke stands proud in the park and was erected to celebrate his centenary in 1987.

The Great Central Walk follows the route of an old railway line. Once a symbol of Rugby’s contribution to the Industrial Revolution, the 95 acres of land are now a nature reserve, home to many rare and endangered species. The five-mile pathway can be used for walking or cycling.

This twelve-acre recreation ground boasts expansive lawns for the community to use for ball sports, picnics and engaging with the outdoors. It is one of the oldest recreation grounds in the country and is a designated Queen Elizabeth II Field.

GEC Recreation Ground is a popular 13‑acre community park on Hillmorton Road, offering sports pitches, a well-used play area and open space for informal recreation. With accessible paths, parking and a pavilion, it provides a welcoming setting for families, walkers and local sports teams.

Close to the town centre yet rich in wildlife, Swift Valley Nature Reserve offers grasslands, woodland and wetland habitats. It’s perfect for gentle walks, nature study and escaping into a more tranquil environment. The site is incredibly accessible with hard surfaced paths, informal grass paths, cycle routes and a car park.

Taking its name from the traditional English folklore character “Cock Robin”, Cock Robin Wood offers peaceful woodland and a large pond surrounded by wildlife. Managed by Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, this nature reserve has a network of surfaced and grassy paths, allowing the whole community to access the natural world. The woodland is an ideal spot for walking, birdwatching and enjoying the changing seasons.

Set in the heart of Warwickshire and just a short drive south of the town, Draycote Water is a picturesque reservoir. Open to all, the park offers a 5-mile paved perimeter road to all visitors and even route for walking and cycling. There are plenty of opportunities for learning and participation with nature trails and bird hides, alongside an active Sailing Club.
